Down Under Ball 2007 Honorees

ANZACC pays tribute annually at the Down Under Ball to a notable group of Atlantans who generously and unstintingly donate their time and talent to charitable endeavors throughout the city and state. At this year’s Ball on March 17 the five prominent Atlanta residents to be honored in a special awards presentation include:
  • A.D. Frazier, Chairman & CEO of Danka Business Systems PLC
  • Angela & Pano Karatassos, Executive Chef of Kyma, a Buckhead Life Restaurant
  • Wayne Kraska, President of the Atlanta Kookaburras Australian Rules Football Club
  • Pamela Smart, Executive Director of Heart to Heart for Kids, Inc.

Meet the 2007 Down Under Ball Honorees...


A.D. Frazier

A.D. Frazier has spent his 40-year career as an executive manager in the for-profit, not-for-profit and government sectors of the U.S. economy. A.D. currently serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Danka Business Systems PLC, a leading document solutions provider and owns and operates Wolf Creek Broadcasting, Inc., a radio broadcasting company based in Florida. Prior to joining Danka, he practiced law at the Atlanta branch of Balch & Bingham, LLP, Of Counsel. As Chief Operating Officer of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG) A.D. was also responsible for all operational aspects of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. [more..]


Angela King Karatassos

Passion and dedication define Atlanta native Angela King Karatassos. This accomplished mother, community fund raiser and model juggles her many occupations with ease. Angela volunteers with numerous organizations but primarily focuses her efforts on child- and family-focused causes, including The Kim King Foundation, Murphy Harpst home for severely abused children and Traveler’s Aid, an organization that helps temporarily homeless and displaced families, where she serves on the board of directors. Angela is married to Pano Karatassos, executive chef of Kyma restaurant in Atlanta and corporate chef for the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group. [more..]


Pano I. Karatassos

Pano I. Karatassos, executive chef of the acclaimed Kyma restaurant in Atlanta, has an inherent passion for food. A celebrated young chef in the culinary industry, Pano has made significant contributions to his family’s business, Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, founded by his father, and to fine dining throughout the country. He trained under three of America’s most celebrated chefs and at the renowned Culinary Institute of America. Pano and his wife Angela reside in Buckhead with their two sons. Together, the couple supports a variety of charities including Share Our Strength and the March of Dimes. [more..]


Wayne Kraska

A veteran of more than 380 Australian Rules Football games, Wayne Kraska is one of the sports leaders in the Australian community in Atlanta. Wayne serves as President of the Atlanta Kookaburra’s ARF Club. His experience as a coach and umpire has taken him across the United States. His achievements include introducing and managing the most successful USAFL National Championships on record, which featured 27 teams and 750 players. He is currently the USA National Head Coach for Women’s ARF and Women’s Team Coach for the Kookaburras. Wayne is also establishing Aussie Rules locally, with four teams in the Atlanta ARF League. Pamela Smart

Pamela Smart is a passionate collector and promoter of rare art, antiques and exquisite furnishings and is well-known for her elite art collection displayed at www.pamsmart.net. Pam spent 15 years with Smart Corporation, the world’s largest health document processor, before selling the company in 2003. In 2001, Pam founded Heart to Heart for Kinds, Inc., a non-profit family foundation dedicated to helping underprivileged children. In addition, she has volunteered countless hours to the Big Sisters program, Harbor House, the Junior Leagues of Atlanta and Los Angeles, the March of Dimes, and the High Museum of Art. [more..]
