ANZACC is proud to Honor...
Angela King Karatassos
Passion
and dedication define Atlanta native Angela King
Karatassos in every area of her life. The accomplished
mother, community fund raiser and model juggles her many
occupations with ease.
Angela and her family have deep roots and a long
tradition of philanthropy in the Atlanta area. Her
father, the late Kim King, was a legendary football
player at Georgia Tech and founder of one of the city’s
foremost commercial real estate firms. He was known for
making service a priority in his life, setting an
example that inspired his daughter to follow in his
footsteps. After he passed away in 2004, Kim’s family
started The Kim King Foundation to fulfill his
long-standing dream of providing educational
opportunities for underprivileged children in Atlanta’s
West End neighborhood, where he grew up. Angela serves
on the foundation’s board of directors, raising money to
support her father’s legacy.
Family is of the utmost importance to Angela. Her sons
Pano, 5, and Lucas, 3, provide her with tremendous
fulfillment and they are the inspiration for her
community involvement. She volunteers with many
organizations but focuses her efforts on child- and
family-focused causes: The Kim King Foundation, Murphy
Harpst home for severely abused children and Traveler’s
Aid, an organization that helps temporarily homeless and
displaced families. Angela serves on the board of
directors for Traveler’s Aid.
Angela and husband Pano Karatassos, executive chef of
the acclaimed Kyma restaurant and corporate chef for the
family-owned Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, have been
married for 10 years. They will welcome a daughter,
their third child, in April. Together, the couple
supports a variety of charities including Share Our
Strength and March of Dimes.
In addition to her volunteer work, Angela is a part-time
model with Elite Model Management and serves on an
advisory board for Mayor's jewelry store. She was named
one of the “50 most beautiful Atlantans” by Jezebel
magazine in 2006, has been profiled by Atlanta Peach,
The Atlantan and PaperCity magazines and is featured on
the cover of the debut issue of Atlanta Social Seasons
for her charity work.
