Lake Hawea, NZ
This impressive topography backdrops the beautiful
Lake Hawea in New Zealand's scenic and rugged south
island. The severity of New Zealand's mountains
reflects their recent geology caused by up-thrust

Desert Sand, AUS
Much of Australia is desert, and the heart of the
continent is known as the Red Center. This is a
literal reality, the shifting red desert sand is
rippled from the wind, and in the early morning
light shows the undisturbed tracks of the many desert
creatures that come out during the relative cool
of the night.

Punga and Koru, NZ
The Koru is a powerful cultural icon for New Zealanders.
Its unfurling spiral shape is symbolic of life,
growth, movement. It represents the unfolding of
new life, that everything is reborn and continues
- it represents renewal and hope for the future.
The Koru features prominently in Maori art, and
its shape is said to be inspired by the new growth
of the Punga or Ponga - the Silver Tree Fern (Cyathea
dealbata) - the tip of a newly emerging fernleaf
begins as a tight spiral that unfurls as it grows
to its full potential.

Sturt's Desert Pea, AUS
This resilient plant with its vivid crimson flower
is the official floral emblem of the state of South
Australia. It was named for Captain Charles Sturt,
an explorer of the Australian inland. It survives
in barren soil through much of Australia as a ground-creeping
vine, blooming fleetingly following the infrequent
rains.

island.

Emerald Beach, Coffs Harbor,
AUS
Sitting just north of Coffs Harbor, Emerald Beach
is typical of the pristine golden sand beaches and
coastline of the northern New South Wales Coast.
This region from Port Macquarie to Byron Bay is
prized for its comfortable climate and laid-back
Aussie lifestyle. Minutes before this photo was
taken, a family of bottlenose dolphins came close
inshore to bodysurf the waves.

Lake Tekapo, NZ
This stunningly beautiful turquoise-colored lake
is framed by New Zealand's dramatic Southern Alps.
The Church of the Good Shepherd stands sentinel
on the lake shore, it's altar window not of stained
glass, but clear glass, giving an unparalleled view
of the lake and the Alps in humble acknowledgement
of the unsurpassed natural beauty.
